Barrett House
The Barrett residence of 1970 is located in the mountains west of Boulder,
with a view of the Continental Divide.
The client requested an "exciting, unreal"
living room
facing this view,
lots of wall
space for contemporary art display (she is a weaver), a library/guest room,
and corners for a loom, a
ham radio outfit, a darkroom, and pottery lab.
The bedrooms each have indoor/outdoor balconies
facing different directions inside and out.
The color scheme of the interior is Beagle colors: white,
brown, black. Large white walls and ceilings with skylights and
adjacent windows in the
dining area
and the
family area
light the house by day.
Walls on the main floor form parapets for upper level rooms
above the
kitchen area.
