Gosko House

notes by Joel Haertling

The Gosko residence of 1975 is located in Snowmass near Aspen Colorado. This is a two story house on a steep site with a magnificent view of the mountains to the east. The house is laid out in a four-pointed star pattern featuring a dramatically cantilevered living room area with a sunken conversation pit wrapped around the fireplace. The entry is off of a covered carport that is integrated into the design of the house. Cabinets and services are designed into the walls of the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. Balconies surround the exterior of the house for enhanced circulation and enjoyment of the outdoors. Walls do not extend to the ceiling, revealing the beauty of the roof structure and central skylight wrapped around the fireplace. The entry is off of a covered , and allowing views from areas further back in the house. Downstairs houses a sauna, extra bedrooms, and unfinished storage spaces. Windows and sliding glass doors downstairs also offer spectacular views.
