The Solarcrest condominiums are located near Vail Colorado. The Solarcrest project utilizes the economical and logistical advantages of the triframe structure first used by Haertling in the Frederick house. Successive stages of the roof construction move very quickly, which is an important consideration in the high mountain regions where the building season is short. Haertling experimented with several configurations, putting models of each unit in a variety of posit1ons to maximize privacy and views of the surrounding mountains. A model was built to promote the project, and photographs of it were included in a prospectus. The lower level lower level had two configurations, one for a garage, and the other with an extra bedroom and workshop. The main floor is very spacious and has views in three directions. A rendering by Echternach illustrates the exciting space of the top floor master bedroom.
